The Jesus Saves road

Jesus-Saves-Billboard

Uncertain, where to look

whenever we drove that road,

radio blaring, toned arms flung out

the half-rolled windows,

cross-stitched vinyl, hot

against our flesh. Tense,

against the coming of that

billboard, its words

discomfort in the sun.

Duty reneged,

commitment to save abandoned,

each time the jokes began,

my soul misplaced

before that signage

weakness, on the Jesus Saves road.
