Green stockings

The drawing was

relentless, abandon

reaching for extinction.

We could not use

the room for guests.

You, rampant, me,

controlled, the expectations

of that picture hanged us,

no bustiers, or silken shimmies

in that room. Later,

you hung it where

you went to live.

I saw it

when I ghosted in,

to lift the mattress

edge and steal the

Polaroids you took.
