Devil window

devil mask-post version

Still, I quake

at open windows

in the night,

imagining mayhem,

blistering evil.

It was my brother,

on a golden summer evening,

on drugs, as usual, and

thinking to be funny,

who disabled me.

He, in a devil

Halloween mask,

popped up the head

halfway, so horns

and depraved eyes

were showing.

Took a flashlight

to illuminate

the fear.

I screamed

and ran and

locked a bathroom

door, knowing

all my teenage

horror fears

were true.
